The Safe Design of Electrical/Electronic Equipment (1.5 Day Course)
for compliance with the new LVD: 2014/35/EU, or the new RED: 2014/53/EU
A 1½ day Training Course by EurIng Keith Armstrong Cherry Clough Consultants Ltd, U.K
Synopsis.
This course describes practical design engineering and testing techniques for achieving safe operation of electrical and electronic equipment operating from up to 1000VAC RMS, and also to assist in achieving regulatory compliance (for example, with the European Union’s Low Voltage (safety) Directive).
Objective
To provide a practical understanding of the equipment and product design and test techniques that are necessary for safety of users and third parties, and regulatory compliance. These techniques will also help reduce financial risks in design and development, and limit exposure to liability claims.

Electromagnetic Engineering (EMgineering) is the basis for proven good design practices for signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and the control of EMI emissions and immunity (EMC).
Our aim is to help people learn how to more quickly and cost-effectively design and manufacture electronic equipment (products, systems, installations, etc.) to meet functional (i.e. SI/PI) specifications and conform to EMC standards, directives and other requirements.
Such equipment should benefit from reduced warranty costs and financial risks, whilst improving uptime, competitiveness and profitability.
We also cover basic good electrical safety engineering; and the Risk Management of Electromagnetic Disturbances / EMI, whether for Functional Safety or other types of risk.
